Tulip Magnolia

I am not sure what the correct name for this flowering tree is but we always called a tulip magnolia. I have never had one but there are several in the area I walk through near my home.

Female Hummingbird

I finished the mate to my male Ruby Throated Hummingbird. I found this one harder to paint. The need to match the colors, to some degree, to the original bird so the pair could be hung side by side.

Male Ruby Throat Hummingbird

It was fun to get back into painting. This past month has been hard. We lost our 14 year old sheltie, Jake. I plan on doing the female so I will have a pair. I have a  guest bedroom with a hummingbird duvet that this will be perfect for the wall.

Viola

This little painting, 6.75" x 7.5", on  Saunders Waterford series 425gm cold press watercolor paper was the first painting I have done in 2 months. Life has been very busy and not much time for painting. It looks very much like a pansy but is much smaller. It was fun to get back to painting once again.

Poinsettia

This poinsettia was originally painted on a 9x12" sheet of 140 lb watercolor paper. But, really, what can you do with basically a Christmas painting? It looks a bit out of place hanging on the wall in July. So I cropped it down to a 6"x 8" painting and used it as part of the title page for my December Daily book. I finished it at the end of November 2017 but have been too busy to post.
