Fall stuff

I try to walk Jake our shetland sheep dog at least 2 miles everyday. Luckily we have paths that take us through lovely wooded areas. There are so many scenes and objects that keeps my eye to paint and occasionally I pick up bits and bobs. This was such a case.

You will notice the pencil lines under the journaling. I purchased a set of three guides design to use on envelopes to make addressing them easier and neater. I thought I would try them in my sketchbook for awhile to see if I like them. I left them on for the scan of this spread so you could see the guides but will erase them before shelving this book. This finishes off this sketchbook now on to choose a new one to start.

Acorns

I picked up a couple of oak branches while out walking with my dog Jake. After all what says fall better than acorns, well, maybe pumpkins. Only one more spread in this sketchbook and it will be full. It is always fun to think about which sketchbook and tools to work with next.

Don't Sweat the Small Stuff

The sketchbook I am using for my Walks with Jake is a repurposed $1 library sale book. I removed the original text block and replaced it with Fabiano Artistco 200gm CP white on 31 July 2012. I did a two spreads in this book last year. One was done in May and one in August. Then it just sat in my sketching vest until this past week.

Today I sketched an unknown white wild flower (must try looking it up) and a poison ivy vine growing up a tree at the edge of a wooded swampy area on our walk. Jake is 12 almost 13 so with the heat and humidity the stopping to sketch is good for him. Plus, I am enjoying the opportunity to sketch and be out in nature.

Walks with Jake

Have started sketching during my morning walks with Jake, our 12 year old shetland sheep dog. Did this a number of years ago on a previous blog and enjoyed the results. It gives us both a break and made sure I find time to sketch each day. We are fortunate to live in a suburban area that has wooded walking paths and ponds. Here are my pages for May 27, 28, 29 & 31.
