Holly

I had planned on painting this holly to go in my December Daily album but did not get around to working on it until January 24. I wasn't excited to paint it but because I haven't painted in watercolor recently and had it sketched out, I decided to go with the holly. It is on Fabriano Artistico 140 lb. extra white acquarello watercolour hot press paper. Not excited about it but am not unhappy with the results.

Acorn and Oak Leaf

Yet another old sketch from last year. The fall weather made me want to sketch some autumn subjects. This one is also in my Fabriano sketchbook. The paper didn't warp as much as it did for the walnut.

Walnut

The paper is so wavey because it is in my 9x6 Fabriano sketchbook. Therefore the paper is light and not stretched. But I have decided to do some smaller botanical that I know I wouldn't spend the time or money on making into painting to frame. As you can see I painted this in November of last year and just never got around to posting it.

Tulip Magnolia

I am not sure what the correct name for this flowering tree is but we always called a tulip magnolia. I have never had one but there are several in the area I walk through near my home.

Female Hummingbird

I finished the mate to my male Ruby Throated Hummingbird. I found this one harder to paint. The need to match the colors, to some degree, to the original bird so the pair could be hung side by side.
